What kind of wax do you use?

We use a proprietary Coconut Wax blend that is mixed in house, by our very own crafters who make our candles! Our wax is a clean burning, biodegradable, vegan, skin safe and non-toxic wax. It is also colorless, odorless, and never contains any candle enhancing additives. Our wax is slow burning and has an excellent scent throw, hot and cold.

What type of wicks do you use?

We use 100% cotton wicks coated with a high melt natural wax and are made in the USA. Pure cotton wicks are one of, if not the, cleanest type of wick you can use for a candle.

Do you have a store front location?

Unfortunately, we do not at this time. We are currently solely an e-commerce based brand selling through our website but we do sell wholesale to retailers!

Where are your candles made?

Every single La Lueur Candle is hand-poured and crafted to perfection in Lincoln, Nebraska. Santa Cruz, CA is where we originated and found our roots, but we've made our way out to the great mid-west and continue all operations from our Lincoln, Nebraska location.

What are your fragrances made of?

Our custom crafted oils are composed of essential and synthetic oils. They are always Paraben, Phthalate, and Sulfate free. Our fragrance oils have 100% vegan ingredients and are never tested on animals. They are safe to human health and Prop 65 compliant. During the process of creating one of our fragrances, oils are drop by drop blended making them complex and always unique.

What is prop 65 compliance?

Prop 65 compliance means that an ingredient adheres to California Safe Drinking Water & Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Prop 65) which states that certain chemicals do not pass Prop 65 compliance. None of our oils contain any harmful chemicals relating to the Prop 65 compliance Act. This is something to look out for with any kind of product. If a product doesn’t pass compliance, its required to have a label on the product stating so. Since we are based in Nebraska, being Prop 65 compliant is not a requirement for our candles but I choose them to be anyways to ensure I am producing a clean, non-toxic candle free of harmful chemicals.

What are Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)?

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are airborne particles that are emitted into the air by basically any product with a smell. This is really only something to be concerned about at a very high, concentrated level of emission. When it comes to candles, its concerning only if a candle contains toxic or harmful chemicals. Since our wax, oils, and wicks are clean burning and contain no harmful chemicals or additives, the amount of harmful VOCs released into the air is none. Candles will give off VOCs no matter what, because their purpose is to emit a smell into the air, but what matters is what kind of compounds are being emitted into the air! This is also something to look out for if a candle wick isn’t burning clean, mushrooming and emitting soot into the air. This is another reason why its super important to trim your wicks regardless of how clean a candles ingredients are!
