Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are airborne particles that are emitted into the air by basically any product with a smell. This is really only something to be concerned about at a very high, concentrated level of emission. When it comes to candles, its concerning only if a candle contains toxic or harmful chemicals. Since our wax, oils, and wicks are clean burning and contain no harmful chemicals or additives, the amount of harmful VOCs released into the air is none. Candles will give off VOCs no matter what, because their purpose is to emit a smell into the air, but what matters is what kind of compounds are being emitted into the air! This is also something to look out for if a candle wick isn’t burning clean, mushrooming and emitting soot into the air. This is another reason why its super important to trim your wicks regardless of how clean a candles ingredients are!
